Successful Stress Management Techniques

Life today is hectic and full of stress.People are looking for successful stress management techniques that can help them each day to cope with pressures and stresses that confront them at home,at work,at school and in dealing with other people in general.Here are some successful stress management techniques that can leave you relaxed and with peace of mind at the end of the day.

*When first waking in the morning take a moment or two to reflect on the good things that are happening in your life and remember to be grateful for being alive.

*Effective time management is important to reduce stress in everyday life.We all lead very busy lives today and every now and then we need to stop and spend a few moments reflecting on how we are using our time.Are we using it wisely?Are we trying to cram too much into every day?Can we eliminate unnecessary things from our daily schedule?Are we leaving enough time for ourselves for recreation and relaxation?

*What about exercise?One of the quickest ways to reduce feelings of stress is to go for a walk.If you can walk in a place that has some natural setting around,that is even better.If you work in a busy city try to walk in the nearest park or around a river.Listen for the chirping of birds and the happy laughter of children.If we take time out to absorb and enjoy these simple things we become much less stressed.

*If you are stressed because of heavy work commitments or time obligations write a list of what needs to be accomplished in the day.Mark off each task as it is finished.This in itself gives a great sense of relief and satisfaction when you are feeling really snowed under.

*At times perhaps you are required to speak before an audience and this greatly increases stress,unless you are a natural public speaker.The fastest way to manage stress before giving a speech is to take long,deep breaths.Ideally,take a deep breath,hold it for 8 seconds and then slowly release it.This also stops a panic attack from taking over.

*An excellent way to manage stress is to find something every day to laugh about.Read a funny book,joke or listen to or watch a good comedy.A good laugh is very good for us.If you can not find something to laugh about,at least smile.

*Sometimes just making a slight adjustment in our daily routine can be enough to help us manage stress.For example,if you can,take public transport rather than drive to work.Concentrating on driving in heavy traffic can be very stressful.A simple adjustment in our attitude or thinking towards modes of transport makes a big difference.
